2016 Gewürztraminer


Winemaking Notes:

This single vineyard, natural orange wine was grown on our Naramata Estate Vineyard under careful guidance from our Winemaker.   Harvested on Sept 25 2016 at 23.9 brix, these grapes were crushed, de-stemmed and left to ferment on skin for 9 days with only natural indigenous yeast that came in from our vineyard.  During the fermentation ,the skins were punched down and macerated in the juice to maximize the extracted flavours and texture from the skins.

After fermentation was complete, the wine was pressed to stainless steel tanks to settle out and was chilled to 0 degrees for cold stabilization, and treated with a bentonite fining to provide heat stability.  The wine was then left in stainless steel vessels to age and mature before bottling on January 30 2017.

Tasting Notes:

Highly aromatic, this wine has aromas of rose pedals, ginger and tropical fruits.  The aromas are matched on the palate with vibrant flavors of fruit salad, lime zest and lychees.  T he palate also has a very viscous, oily mouth feel balanced with the acidity.  The wine is very intense and highly expressive of the terroir of the Naramata Vineyard location and the natural wine making style.
